Here's the latest...
The long-awaited return to Sera's dark, gritty beginnings is officially underway. The Coalition has unleashed the Gears of War: E-Day Multiplayer Beta, giving fans their first hands-on look at the next evolution of cover-based combat. Running across two test windows an Early Access weekend (August 6–10) and a wider Open Beta weekend (August 13–17) the test lets players experience updated gameplay mechanics ahead of the full game's launch on October 6, 2026.Here is a breakdown of all the modes, features, and unlockable rewards included in the beta test. The beta focuses on two main components of E-Day's multiplayer experience: an massive new cooperative mode and refined competitive play.1. 12-Player Horde Siege (PvE) The biggest part of the beta is Horde Siege, a massive evolution of the franchise's iconic wave-survival mode.Instead of a single squad, 12 players drop onto a expansive map divided into three 4-player squads. Squads tackle shared objectives, coordinate defenses, and take down massive world bosses together. You don't actually run around the whole time with 12 people, its only at specific parts throughout the missions. The beta features the "Golden Quarter" map, set in the ruined streets and historic architecture of Kalona.Players can test out four core Siege Classes Assault, Marksman, Medic, and Breacher each bringing unique loadouts and tactical upgrades to the field. My personal favorite being the Medic. This take on horde I loved, most of the time put into the beta has been in this mode. 2. Refined 4v4 VersusFor competitive players, the beta includes a streamlined 4v4 Versus to showcase E-Day's modernized movement systems. Players can slide, vault, and flank with greater fluidity while retaining the series' signature heavy, cover-to-cover feel. Which all felt surprising smooth once you get used to the new control layout. They have some balancing features to work on otherwise the casual player like myself wont be able to hold there own in a mode like this. Exclusive Beta Rewards:Progress, character levels, and class ranks will reset before the full game releases in October. However, players who participate in the beta can complete specific in-game challenges to earn permanent cosmetic rewards that will carry over directly to their launch-day account:
