October is finally here! Surprising, it seems the other day it was the start of 2026. October is turning into one of the busiest releases of the month of the year. So instead of trophy hunting this time, I would like to put together something different. Who knows maybe you would prove me wrong and still somehow get the plat in the bag.
Ten games actually worth your time and ps5 storage for those that just might be about to run out of space. Some are platinum friendly while others are going to eat your whole weekend, but most importantly all are worth having on your radar.
10. Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered
If you've ever wanted to experience the absolute chaos of mowing down hundreds of enemies at once, Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is your excuse to do it.
This remastered version brings one of the classic entries in the musou series back to modern PlayStation hardware. It is the kind of game that doesn't need to overcomplicate things: pick your favourite warrior, jump into battle and start turning an entire battlefield into your personal highlight reel.
For long time fans, there's plenty of nostalgia here. For newcomers, it's a chance to see where so much of the modern musou formula came from.
9. Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Star Wars and racing games might sound like an unusual combination, but the idea of flying through iconic planets at ridiculous speeds is pretty difficult to dislike.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer brings arcade style racing to a galaxy far, far away, with customizable vehicles, familiar locations and online multiplayer. If you've ever wanted to experience the thrill of podracing without simply replaying the classic games, this could be the perfect excuse.
And let's be honest sometimes you don't need a complicated RPG. Sometimes you just want to go fast.
8. Steins;Gate Re:Boot
Steins; Gate Re-Boot revisits the beloved time travel story with completely revamped visuals, updated character designs, new scenes and additional content. The original Steins; Gate has built an enormous reputation over the years, so this reboot gives both long time fans and newcomers a fresh way into the story.
If you are someone who enjoys games where the narrative actually makes you stop and think about your decisions, this is one to keep on the radar.
7. Ratatan
Remember Patapon?
If you do, Ratatan is probably already on your radar.
This rhythm action adventure comes from creators with strong connections to that style of gameplay and revolves around commanding your characters through rhythm based sequences while dealing with enemies and increasingly chaotic situations.
It is colourful, strange and completely different from most of the big-budget releases surrounding it.
And honestly, that's exactly why it deserves a spot here.
6. Enshrouded
Looking for something that can completely consume your free time?
Enshrouded might be the answer.
The survival RPG combines exploration, crafting, combat and building into a massive sandbox adventure. Its PS5 release also makes October a particularly good time to jump in with friends, with online multiplayer supporting up to eight players.
This is one of those games where you can tell yourself, "I'll just play for an hour."
Four hours later, you've built a house, defeated a boss, gathered approximately 700 pieces of wood and somehow forgotten what day it is.
5. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
Not every game on this list needs to involve swords, monsters or saving the world.
Sometimes you just need a plane.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve brings the long running flight combat series back with cinematic aerial battles, a story driven campaign and a bigger multiplayer focus than previous entries. If you have never tried an Ace Combat game before, this could be the perfect opportunity. And if you are already a fan, you probably don't need me to convince you to climb into the cockpit.
The skies are calling.
4. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
October wouldn't be October without something suitably dark and gothic.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse brings the legendary series back with a new side-scrolling adventure set in a monster-infested medieval Paris. You'll take control of Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose as they fight through hordes of supernatural enemies using the series' iconic whip-based combat.
It's difficult to think of a better franchise for spooky season. If you're looking for something atmospheric, violent and appropriately gothic, this one belongs on the list.
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
You knew Call of Duty was going to be here.
Whatever your feelings about the yearly release cycle, Modern Warfare 4 is going to be one of the biggest games people are talking about this month
The yearly heavyweight. Whatever your feelings on the franchise's release cadence, this is going to dominate a huge chunk of the online gaming conversation this month, and it's worth knowing what everyone's talking about. While for those like me who prefer the campaign I hope they manage to get it right this time.
2. Final Fantasy Resonance
Final Fantasy is one of those franchises where a new release automatically gets people's attention.
Final Fantasy Resonance takes the series in an interesting direction, combining classic Final Fantasy ideas with HD-2D visuals and an evolved turn based combat system.
You'll explore a new world, protect the Crystals and encounter familiar elements of the franchise, including Chocobos, airships and legendary Final Fantasy characters. There's even a free PS5 demo, allowing players to experience the entire first chapter before deciding whether to jump into the full game.
For Final Fantasy fans, this is one of the month's biggest releases.
1. Phantom Blade Zero
Taking the number-one spot is Phantom Blade Zero.
Set in a dark wuxia-inspired world, Phantom Blade Zero puts you in the role of Soul, an elite assassin who has just sixty-six days left to live.
That alone sounds like a pretty good setup.
What really makes Phantom Blade Zero stand out is its combat. The game is built around fast, stylish swordplay, multiple weapons, challenging enemies and a cinematic presentation that looks absolutely incredible on PS5.
The developers have also revealed multiple difficulty options, including the particularly brutal Sixty-Six Days mode.
Honourable mention
Runescape Wildlands
It didn't technically drop in October, but it deserves a mention anyway The game made its full 1.0 debut on PS5 back on September 15, and it's still very much worth your time this month. It's a landmark release in its own right the first time in the franchise's 25-year history that a RuneScape title has ever launched on console.
Rather than the classic point-and-click MMO format longtime fans know, Dragonwilds reimagines the IP as an open world survival crafting game, letting you battle familiar RuneScape creatures like Black Knights and Zogres while building out your own slice of a new continent.
What are you playing this month? Or perhaps are you waiting for November 19th
