Dark Light: A Hunter's Roadmap - The First Steps (The Under City)
Dark Light is a non-linear Souls-like Metroidvania. This guide is intended to provide direction without spoiling every secret, allowing for your own exploration and discovery. As you begin your dark, cyberpunk-themed adventure toward the Platinum Platinum Trophy, it's recommended to familiarize yourself with the game's mechanics and the variety of weapons and gear available. - Survive and Learn: Your initial goal is to learn the core mechanics. Focus on mastering the dodge roll, blocking, and the unique light mechanic. - Collect Shards: Shards are the game's currency and a crucial resource. Every time you defeat an enemy, collect the shards they drop. If you die, you will lose all the shards you have on you. Always deposit them at a safe point (usually a teleport portal or a hub area) to avoid losing progress. - Find the First Boss: Progress through the opening area, defeating smaller enemies and collecting loot. Your first major encounter will be with the boss known as The Butcher. Defeating him is essential to open up the rest of the world. The game offers a wide array of weapons, gadgets, and throwable items, all of which are random drops from defeated enemies. Experiment to find what best suits your playstyle, and once you have a preferred loadout, focus on upgrading it. When playing, open your map; each boss, optional boss, key, and side quest is automatically tracked and marked. Again, when you get to the Forward Cargo Bay Base, ignore the elevator that takes you to the clans. All core boss trophies will unlock throughout normal play.
Exploration and Faction Choice
For this stage, it's recommended to focus on exploration and choosing a faction: - Unlock New Areas: After defeating The Butcher, you'll gain access to new biomes like the Great Swamp and the Cargo Bay Forward Base. These areas are vast and filled with new enemies and secrets. - Join a Faction: This is a critical decision that will affect your abilities, quests, and ending. Once you find the two factions: the Blood Wolves (Samurais) and the Diamond Knights (Templars) at the top of a large elevator, you must choose one. - Blood Wolves: Focus on melee combat, speed, and aggression. - Diamond Knights: Lean towards ranged and technical abilities. Note: You can choose to remain neutral for a specific ending, but you will miss out on the unique skills and gear provided by the factions. (If you remain neutral, once you make it to the final boss, AZEL, stop, quit out of the game, and upload your save using PSN's cloud save function. This is to ensure you can get all of the endings without having to do multiple playthroughs.)
The Main Quest & Bosses
The game's progression is semi-linear, with multiple paths. The general flow after joining a faction is to complete their specific quests, which will lead you to new areas and boss fights. A likely boss order you will encounter (with many optional bosses in between) is: - Corrupted Celestial Sentinel: A tough boss in the sewers. - Nuxi the Witch of the Dead: Found in the City of Flesh. - The Dragon: A formidable dragon you can find in the Celestial Burial Grounds. - Kage: A high-level boss that tests your skills. - The Faction Bosses: Depending on your faction choice, you will eventually be tasked with defeating the leader of the opposing faction. These include Onyx (Diamond Knights) and Amoux (Blood Wolves).
The Endgame & Replayability
Keep the following things in mind for the endgame: - Final Preparations: Before the final fight, ensure your skills are maxed out, your cyberware is optimized, and you have enough shards. - The Last Boss: After defeating the final faction boss, a portal will open, leading to the final encounter. - Endings: Dark Light features multiple endings based on your faction choice and your decisions during key boss fights (e.g., if you kill or spare the opposing faction's leader). There are at least 8 known endings, encouraging multiple playthroughs. - New Game+: After completing the game, you can start a New Game+ to try a different faction, get a new ending, or just challenge yourself with increased difficulty. - Money Grind: You will earn a lot of money throughout normal play, but nothing close to 1 Million. Don't stress, though, as it doesn't take that long. Thankfully, there is a quick way to collect 1 Million currency. Please visit MILLIONAIRE for more details and the location.
Ending Roadmap
This stage is about cleaning up the different endings. See below for the suggested steps: 1. Play normally, ignore the clans, and reach the final portal; it will be in the top right of your map. 2. Upload the save to the cloud "Core Save" 3. Defeat the boss and see Ending VI 4. Reload the save from the cloud "Core Save" 5. Eliminate both the clan bosses and the final boss to see Ending VII 6. Reload save from the cloud "Core Save" 7. Spare the lives of the clan bosses and defeat the final boss to see Ending VIII 8. Reload the save from the cloud "Core Save" 9. Ally with the Knights but DO NOT do any of the faction missions & defeat the final boss to see the ending V 10. Reload the save from the cloud "Core Save" 11. Ally with the Knights but DO all of the faction missions and defeat the final boss to see Ending IV 12. Reload the save from the cloud "Core Save" 13. Betray any clan to see Ending III 14. Reload the save from the cloud "Core Save" 15. Ally with the Wolves but DO NOT do any of the faction missions and defeat the final boss to see Ending II 16. Reload the save from the cloud "Core Save" 17. Ally with the Wolves but DO all of the faction missions and defeat the final boss to see Ending I If you do not reload your save, you will now have the Wolves drone and any peaks in that tree. If you don't like that outcome, you can always reload your normal save and redo whatever ending you want that has the benefits you want.
Tips & Strategies
Key Systems to Master - Shards: Your primary currency. Deposit them frequently to avoid losing them upon death. - Cyberware: Your main source of buffs and unique passive abilities. Use them to customize your build. - Skill Tree: This is where you spend shards to unlock new skills and attributes. - Factions: Your chosen faction determines a significant portion of your available skills and the path you will follow. Choose wisely! What to Know The most important thing to know is the endings; there are eight of them, but obtaining them isn't as difficult as it seems, and the pendant. To get all eight, you must reach the final boss, AZEL, without joining either of the two clan factions. Once you get to this point, save your game and upload it to the PSN cloud. You will use this single save file to unlock all the different endings. When doing that, it will also net you specific boss kills and the faction-based trophies. When you get to the Cargo Bay forward base, ignore the elevator that takes you to the clans. You will also want to have your health and stamina maxed out at this point, but the guide will get to that later. Here is a quick map of key locations:
Anything missable is only that way if you don't back up your save or pick the right answer for the pendant, you have to do another playthrough, but all bosses are farmable for gear, loot, and weapons General Quick Tips - Upgrading weapons: Pick fire or lightning - Boss fights: If you are struggling, use the throwable turrets. You can only have one out at a time, but can keep throwing them to stagger bosses. - Dark Hunter Upgrades: Health, Damage, then Stamina When Stamina is maxed, you can spam roll to completely avoid damage. - Once you make it to B40 Megastructure I for the first time, farm money and get an upgrade to make the last half of the game easier. See the trophy **MILLIONAIRE** for more details.

SO MANY LOCKERS
Grindy
Where to find lockers: Lockers can be found in the Under City, a place you naturally go to at the beginning of the game. A few are at this location, marked on the map below. You can open the same locker 100 times, and it will unlock the "SO MANY LOCKERS OPENED" trophy. Opening lockers will give you shards and ammo.
MONEY MAKER
Please visit MILLIONAIRE for more information.
MILLIONAIRE
Grindy
ACQUIRE 1 MILLION CURRENCY When it comes to grinding currency, you've got a choice between taking it easy or going for a challenge. Grinding for currency: Normal Difficulty: The first option is to play it safe. You can simply go to the grinding location and rack up kills, deposit, then rest to get them to respawn. It's a much easier route, and the enemies won't be as tough. The downside? It'll take you longer (Partly skill dependent), about twice as long to reach your goal (5-10 hours). Nightmare Difficulty: Your second choice is to take on the challenge. Go back to the cargo bay and talk to the person in white and switch the difficulty to Nightmare. Fight your way through the game again until you get to B40 Megastructure (the grinding location). This path is harder, and the enemies will hit a lot harder, but you'll be rewarded with much faster progress (around 5 hours). This is only an option after beating the game. You can freely jump between nightmare and normal at any portal if you find it too difficult.
This is the location to go to for the fastest kills. Once there, kill the two big enemies and the little skeleton men. Once everyone is dead, go back to the portal deposit, then rest to reset the enemy. Do this until the trophy unlocks.
Notes: When farming make sure you bank often. There is a chance you can get pushed in the floor with no way out. This trophy only counts what you spent on levels and what you have on you. You DO NOT to have 1 million on your person at the same time. Spending currency on health, stamina and weapon upgrades doesn't count.
THEY CALLED IT PUPPY LOVE...
