I’m doing my part!
Welcome to the Mobile Infantry! If you want to survive the sandbox battlefields of Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War! and earn your Citizenship, you need to know more than just how to pull a trigger. The Basics Getting Around Missions take place in massive, open environments with multiple objectives running at the same time like sealing bug holes, destroying Flak Bugs, or defending crashed dropships. You can tackle them in whatever order you want. The game doesn't give you a traditional HUD map. You have to rely entirely on in-world UI markers and physical landmarks (like Federation blue flares) to figure out where you're going. Thankfully they are big and hard to miss. Bugs are fast and mostly rely on melee. Use your sprint and the ziplines scattered around the map to keep your distance. If a swarm surrounds you, you're done for. Combat & Shooting Don't just spray and pray. Focus your fire on the distinct weak points on the bugs' bodies to deal massive critical damage and save ammo. The nerve stem that is circler mass, kinda where the mouth is, that is your target. Keep an eye on the bottom-right corner of your HUD when you reload. Pressing the reload button (
) a second time exactly when it passes the indicator to trigger a Fast Reload. If you miss the timing, you will reload slower. Your standard Morita Assault Rifle has an undergrip shotgun attached to it. Use the rifle fire for mid-range, and instantly swap to the shotgun to blast any Warrior Bugs that get too close. You can also scavenge specialized weapons like the E-88 Pulse Rifle from supply drops. Squads & Support Never fight alone. You can recruit AI troopers to your squad by walking up to them and hitting the Recruit button (Up on the d-pad). Just watch your sightlines friendly fire is always on, and you will shred your own team if you aren't careful. You have a rechargeable Resupply Flare. When you're running low on ammo or need heavy weapons, throw it down to call in a dropship container. You'll pick up single-use tactical beacons across the battlefield. Use them to drop soundwave spikes that stun groups of bugs, or call down devastating Orbital Strikes and Tactical Nukes on major hives. Mistakes to Avoid Don't waste grenades or air strikes on a single Warrior Bug. Save your heavy explosives and satchel charges for dense chokepoints and massive base-defense waves. Fighting bugs in the open is a death sentence. When you're defending an objective, back up into a narrow pass, corridor, or outpost gate so you can funnel the swarm into one tight kill zone. During the first training mission, turning your weapon on your instructors or squadmates will instantly fail the simulation and turn the entire base hostile. (Doing this once actually unlocks a hidden achievement, though!). Heavy Target Strategies Tanker Bugs Tankers are walking armored units that can melt your entire squad with ranged attacks. Their front armor is insanely tough, so don't bother shooting them head-on. You need to maneuver around to the back to hit their weaker rear plating. Weaken its rear shell to expose weak points. If you time it perfectly, you can toss a standard grenade right into its open wound for massive internal damage. Tankers fire attacks spray everywhere, don't assume you're safe just because you're hiding behind a concrete wall. Assassin & Tiger Bugs Elite variants have higher health pools. You need to hit them with heavy ordnance like an under grip shotgun blast or a rocket to piece them up before your standard Morita rifle can do real damage to their nerve stems. Elites usually lead localized swarms. Drop a tactical soundwave spike to stun the smaller Warrior bugs around them so your squad can focus down the heavy target without getting overwhelmed.
Methods of Play
Dev’s generously provided players with the exact tools needed to turn this game into a carefree bug slaughter fest, allowing you to wrap up the entire 100% completion in just a few hours. Depending on how you want to approach your trophy hunt, you can either completely trivialize the difficulty or play through it naturally with a highly optimized two step roadmap. Method 1: The Fast-Track Cheat Method (2–3 Hours) If your primary goal is to unlock the trophies as quickly as possible without dealing with the stress of survival, you can utilize the built-in developer cheats. These options do not lock you out of earning trophies or achievements. How to Activate God Mode & Infinite Ammo: 1. Open the Main Menu or pause your game. 2. Navigate to Options. 3. Scroll down and select the Accessibility tab. 4. Toggle both God Mode and Infinite Ammo to ON.
With these features active, you are completely invincible to all acid attacks, bug swarms, and friendly fire. Infinite ammo also applies to your special ordnance, allowing you to spam undergrip shotgun blasts, grenades, and tactical nukes without ever needing to look for a resupply crate. You can jump straight into the hardest difficulty from the start and comfortably sprint through every mission. Method 2: The Legit Roadmap Method (7-10 Hours) If you prefer to earn your completion without relying on the accessibility cheats, following a structured two-playthrough roadmap will still allow you to breeze through the game with minimal resistance. Step 1: Recruit Difficulty + Clean Up Start your first playthrough on Recruit (Easy) difficulty. This lowers the health and aggression of the Arachnid horde, making it incredibly easy to explore the sandbox maps without getting overwhelmed. During this step, focus entirely on: - Getting a feel for the map flows and objective layouts. - Grabbing all 16 hidden collectibles (2 per mission) using the location guide above. Finding these unlocks fun gameplay modifiers (like Moon Boots or Viva Granata) that you can toggle on from the level select screen. - Cleaning up specific combat tasks, such as triggering the aggressive "Washout" mode in Basic Training, tossing a grenade into a Tanker Bug's back shell, or pulling off flawless fast reloads. Step 2: Citizen Difficulty (Hardest Difficulty) Speedrun Once you have memorized the map layouts, gathered all collectibles, and learned how to exploit the bug weak points, start your second playthrough on Citizen difficulty. Because you already know exactly where to go, you can completely ignore exploration and speedrun straight through the primary objectives. By utilizing your full arsenal and relying on your combat experience from the first run, you'll be tanky enough to shrug off hits and wrap up the remaining difficulty trophies in record time. Just be careful not to get swarmed.

Trophy Tips

Detailed notes for each trophy covered in this guide.
Service guarantees citizenship
Story
Completing every human level is incredibly straightforward since all your objectives are clearly marked on-screen at all times! If you want to speed up the process just turn on the cheats. You can absolutely fly through the missions, bypass the tough firefights, and stack up your bug level unlocks with zero stress. Pop the cheats on, follow the markers, and you'll have the entire human campaign checked off your list in no time!
Where did you learn that?
You will encounter your very first Tanker Bug while doing the main objective during the 3rd mission Operation Razorwire. When this massive beast spawns into the area, you can take it down in the most cinematic way possible just like Johnny Rico in the first movie. Tanker is the large blue thing who spit napalm from it's mouth. When the Tanker spawns you can use a rock ledge, a container, or a tactical jump to position yourself on onto its outer armored back shell. Look straight down at its back armor and open fire with your primary weapon. Keep shooting the same spot until the heavy armor plating cracks open, revealing a steaming, glowing orange weak point that looks like a mini volcano. As soon as that hole pops open, press
to drop a grenade directly down into the vent. Jump off quickly and watch the internal explosion rip the Tanker apart from the inside out. (If you are having a lot of trouble you can use the collected secret Moon Shoes to give you high jumps) Pulling this off successfully completely bypasses its massive health pool making it useful even when not going for the trophy.
You know what to do
You only need to kill one single Flak Bug for this, and you can get it done right at the start of the first Operation! Grab the Airstrikes sitting directly in front of you in the first clearing. Run up to the marked objective bug and throw the airstrike right behind its butt. Note: Airstrikes can be super inconsistent, so if the explosive physics fail, just reload the checkpoint and try again until that single lethal blow lands!
The airstrikes will be right next to the grey containers

What did you Expect?
Once all 17 secrets are picked up in game and unlocked, return to the mission menu to turn them on via their own menu. You can then return to basic training with all secrets on.

Mission 1: Basic Training - Secret 1 [Extreme Tag]: From the start, head to the right side of the main obstacle course. You’ll find this one sitting on the ground near the military camp tents setup along the outer perimeter wall. - Secret 2 [Moon Boots]: Look for the tall sniper/scout tower that connects to the zipline. Head over to the small tent right next to it, jump up onto its roof, and then do a big jump onto the concrete pillar platform to grab it. Mission 2: Operation Payback - Secret 1 [Bloody Mess]: When you are moving through the canyon passes to hunt down the Flak Bugs, keep an eye out for a detour path that leads to an isolated rocky ledge overlooking the valley. The secret is sitting right on the edge. - Secret 2 [Quiet Hell]: This one only becomes accessible *after* you have completed all the main objectives on the map. Before jumping into the M7 Razorback vehicle for extraction, check the dark, rocky recess right behind the broken fence line near the final defensive gate. Mission 3: Operation Razorwire - Secret 1 [Gun Game]: Right at the very start of the level, hug the right-hand rock wall immediately. Follow it along the map edge until you locate a hidden cave opening. Go inside to find the secret. - Secret 2 [Floor's Not Lava]: Deep inside the cave systems near the final objective, watch for a branching pathway. Take a sharp right turn and then an immediate left down a dark, seemingly empty dead end. The secret is hidden at the back next to the collectible *Laser Training Rifle*. Mission 4: Operation Obsidian - Secret 1 [All Out War]: Located at the first outpost closest to where you initially drop into the mission. Look up at the middle tower in the center of the base. You need to climb the adjacent walkway, jump onto the roof of the nearest military hut, and then jump across to grab the ledge of the tower where the secret is resting. - Secret 2 [No Medic]: From that same starting outpost, hang a hard left and follow the natural cliffside path all the way down until it opens up into a beach/resort area. Search the shallow water directly along the base of that cliff wall to find it. Mission 5: Operation Tourniquet - Secret 1 [Birthday Party]: As you approach the massive bridge structure, look at the buildings directly ahead of you (keeping the bridge on your right). Enter the main structure, mantle up the interior broken walls to reach the upper floor rafters, and the secret is sitting in the corner room. - Secret 2 [Oooft]: Later in the mission when you enter the large stadium to turn on the loudspeakers, head over to **Section C**. A Warrior Bug will burst out of a wall panel here. Kill it, then go into the newly opened maintenance door with the distinct gold trim around the frame to find a hidden birthday party room setup. Mission 6: Operation Morpheus (Kick the Nest) - Secret 1 [Viva Granata]: Right before entering the final boss arena to fight the Brain Bug, you will cross a large metal bridge. Stop right at the edge of the arena entrance where the health and ammo crates are. Face the boss room, look over the railing to your right, and jump down onto the hidden ledge below. Walk past the decorative fire prompt to find it in the corner. - Secret 2 [Vampirism]: Located deep within the lower hive tunnels midway through the mission. In the cavern chamber filled with glowing organic pods, look for an upper rock shelf that requires a series of precise parkour jumps to scale. The secret is tucked neatly behind a cluster of bug eggs. Mission 7: Operation Seeker Secret 1 [Super Sonic]: Literally right as soon as you spawn into the level, turn your camera completely around 180 degrees. Walk behind your dropship and look down over the edge of the cliff. Jump down onto the small, narrow rocky ledge directly below the landing zone to grab it. Secret 2 [Ticking Time Bomb]: Progress through the map until you reach the primary objective area where you have to destroy the massive Plasma Bugs. Look for the giant industrial treaded machinery tracks on the ground near the base. Follow the tracks into the deep metal trench/groove they sit in to find the secret tucked underneath the main chassis. Mission 8: Operation Slayer Secret 1 [Enemy Number One]: Inside the final automated fortress complex, before entering the main control command room, locate the auxiliary server racks on the lower maintenance floor. The secret is hidden on top of the ventilation pipes directly above the servers. Secret 2 [Big Bugs]: In the final extraction zone where you must hold out against the massive royal guard wave, look toward the collapsed hanger bay doors on the far eastern edge of the arena. Squeeze through the rubble gap on the left side to find the final secret of the campaign.
Flappy Bug
You can do this in any official bug mission, as soon as you have control of the Assassin bug press
on the dpad pulling out a pair of wings, then just press
and continue to do so while in the air for 30 seconds.
The Real Thing
This is a pickup weapon on Operation Razerwire, the closest objective will be Sierra Outpost. In the middle of this outpost will be a tower and at the top is the laser rifle you will need. Jump on the white tent to the left and do a running jump to mount onto the tower.
Sedition
This is a secret automatically given to you. Turn it on under the secrets tab, load up Basic Training mission and interact with the floating disk.
Some kinda smart bug?
When playing the bug missions you are only playing as the Assassin Bug, when in any mission walk up to any nest and the allies will automatically spawn. Allies are marked by the blue indicator above their head.
Hitch a Ride
Story
This trophy can be earned very early in the game, on Operation Payback follow the objectives and you will end up being told to get inside a razorback. Just walk up and press
to get inside and hold it to exit. If you decide not to use it this time, you can get and use them later in the game.
Expect the best
God Mode and infinite ammo needs to be off! This trophy is a nod to Ace from the movie. Found on Operation Slayer (Mission 8) This could be tricky without knowing but the violin doesn't function like a standard collectible it is technically a health pack. So you will need to have taken some kind of damage in order to pick it up. If needed you can jump off the little cliff that the collectable is located on and take fall damage. Location Guide 1. As you advance through the human level, look for a large bug nest positioned high up on the rock formations. Seeing this means you are tracking in the right direction. 2. Run past the two small camp tents on your left and keep advancing forward. * Take a **left** right around the bend from the tents. * Circle around to the **right**, continuing to climb upward through a narrow rock formation/pass. 3. Pass another set of small camp tents on your left as you reach the upper ridge. 4. Turn slightly left, then head up a final small dirt ramp to your right. You will see a lone deck chair sitting on the ridge looking out over the map. The neon green violin is lying right on the ground next to it. Walk over it with less than full health, trophy will pop immediately.

A bug that thinks?
Story
Before you can start crawling through the bug levels, you need to put in some serious work on the human side of the game. The progression here is tied completely to a 2:1 system meaning you unlock exactly one single bug level for every 2 human mission you cross off your list. Because of this gate, you'll ultimately need to finish the entire human campaign if you want to experience everything the bug side has to offer. When you're mapping out your roadmap, you have two great ways to tackle this. You can either leap-frog back and forth between the two sides clearing a human level, knocking out the new bug level, and repeating or you can just marathon the entire human story first to unlock all the bug missions in one massive block. Whichever way you choose, just remember that if the next bug level isn't unlocking, it means it's time to hop back over to the human menu and finish your homework.

Missable
Playthrough both Human and Bug missions without skipping any scenes. There is no option to rewatch scenes if you skip one, you would have to finish each level again. All cutscenes are using real life people.
Collect Them All
This should come automatically when playing through each of the bug missions, in the event it doesn't Operation Downfall and Graveyard have all the allies you need. A good rule of thumb is if you see a bug that you haven't seen before walk around them until you see a blue indicator above their head.
Core Bug Types
Warrior Bugs: The most common grunt of the Arachnid army. They swarm in large numbers, overwhelming players with sheer force.
Tiger Bugs: Aggressive soldiers that are dangerous in groups and capable of calling in swarm reinforcements.
Tanker Bugs: Massive, heavily armored behemoths that can take out significant health with flamethrower or spray attacks.
Hopper Bugs / Fireflies: Airborne, flying Arachnids that swoop down from above. Firefly variants can additionally spit fire.
Assassin Bugs: Advanced, end-game variants.
Acid/Spitter Bugs: Ranged bugs that discharge green acidic spray from a distance to heavily damage troopers
They’ll keep fighting…and they’ll win!

When starting up the campaign, make sure you choose Citizen difficulty right off the bat. Doing this allows you to stack all of the difficulty-related trophies in one single go, saving you from having to do multiple tedious playthroughs. Even if you choose to play the game completely legit without any shortcuts, Citizen isn't overly difficult as long as you keep your distance and focus your fire strictly on the bugs' weak spots. You just have to be careful not to get careless, because it is incredibly easy for a swarm of bugs to completely overwhelm you and rip your health bar apart if they trap you in a corner. Of course, if you decide to turn on the developer cheats, the entire campaign becomes an absolute breeze. You can pair the Moon Boots cheat with God Mode and Speed modifiers to literally fly across the map almost instantly. When you're running this god-tier cheat setup, the only possible way you can actually die is if you somehow misjudge a jump and fall completely off the map grid, so just watch your step while soaring past the objectives!
Washout Lane
Fail basic training.
Want a quick way to fail the tutorial? Boot up the Basic Training mission and progress until you pick up your first usable weapon. Instead of shooting the practice targets, spin around and shoot at any human NPC or instructor on the level. This will automatically fail you on the spot and turn you into a traitor.
