With the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI slowly approaching, Rockstar announced a new collector's box, which features themed items around the in-game TV show "Macca the Gator". However, the price of the entire box and the lack of a digital code for GTA VI would cause fans to be disappointed about this release online.

Around the world, players are awaiting November 19th, the official release date for 'Grand Theft Auto VI'. The hype for this title is unreal, as it would win the "Most Anticipated Game" Award in 2024 and 2025 from 'The Game Awards'. Once the pre-order option became available for the game on June 25th, players immediately started purchasing either the Base Game ($80.00 USD) or the Ultimate Edition ($99.99 USD). While there was a physical release for the base game as well, the game case only comes with a digital code instead of a physical disc. Despite the disappointment of not owning a physical copy of the game, pre-orders would continue to climb in the passing days.

Two months later, a new extended trailer shown exclusively through 'Netflix', revealed more about the world of Vice City and just a taste of what players can expect when they experience the Story Mode. One of the humorous aspects of the series is the television programs, first introduced in 'Grand Theft Auto IV', which had absurd concepts and shows meant to be an extreme version of the genre they are portraying. During the extended trailer, there were only a handful of short commercials presented on the TV screen within the character's apartment. Outside of the commercial for one of the Fast-Food chains in the game, not much knowledge about other shows or characters was revealed in the trailer.About one month later, the official Rockstar Games X (formerly known as Twitter) account would make a new post on September 24, stating the following:

Rockstar Games would announce a new collector's box, entirely themed around one of the TV shows yet to be seen called "Macca the Gator". In Grand Theft AutoV, a popular mascot was the "Space Monkey", also known as "Pogo", who has been a recurring background character from as far back as 'Grand Theft Auto III' and was given a mask that players could equip as a style option. With the announcement of the collector's box, it sets up "Macca the Gator" as one of their main mascots before the game's release, as indicated by the style of each item inside the box. The overall quality of the items matches the expectations of a collector's box for a new game release, but there are crucial aspects of this box to be aware of. The 'Vice City Collection' does NOT include a digital copy of 'Grand Theft Auto VI', as the game is sold seperately. Additionally, the cost of this box is $399.99 USD, which is fairly expensive for a box of accessories and collectibles. This product is classified as a "Collector Box" and not a "Collector's Edition", which is similar to what 'Borderlands 4' has with its 'ECHO-4 Bundle', specifically exclusive to GameStop. The main difference is that the price is far lower than the asking price for the new collector's box, as the cost for the bundle was $149.99 USD. When directly compared to other "Collector's Edition" bundles for new video game releases from this year, the 'Vice City Collection' remains the most expensive, despite the exclusion of the game itself.

The decision not to include 'Grand Theft Auto VI' with the collector's box is very confusing, as it would only require a digital code placed alongside the box or be sent to the buyer's email upon purchase. As of currently, if a player decided to purchase the 'Vice City Collection' on top of the Ultimate Edition for 'Grand Theft Auto VI', it would cost the buyer (not including tax) an astonishing $499.99 USD! The cost alone is close enough to purchase a whole PlayStation 5 Console, which very few players are willing to spend that level of money on for a single game, with some personal accessories. The entire collector's box is meant for hardcore GTA Fans, who are extremely excited for the release of 'Grand Theft Auto VI' and more than willing to buy any new product releases around the game.For the average player, it's not recommended to purchase this collector's box, especially with the very high price range for a couple of accessories. Within a couple of months after the official release, there are bound to be more accessories, statues, and clothing that will be released to capitalize on the game's hype. Additionally, most of the items found in that collector's box have a high likelihood of having their individual items sold separately months later. In the event there are select items that people did like from the collector's box but prefer not to spend hundreds of dollars, there is an alternate option available. Although the 'Vice City Collection' is new merchandise for the release of 'Grand Theft Auto VI', this collector's box is not going to be an option for many players, with most just settling for a copy of the game itself.
