The Spooky Season has arrived, which means not only some scary video games to play or scary movies to watch, but it also means a new lineup of PlayStation Plus games has been released for October. With September coming to a close, a new selection of PlayStation Plus games has been chosen for October. This month's rotation includes two titles released in 2024 and one releasing in 2025. The listing for these titles comes directly from the official PlayStation Blog, with each of these titles being available to play for free from October 6th to November 2nd. Hunt: Showdown 1896 | PS5

'Hunt: Showdown 1896' was originally released on Steam as far back as August 27, 2019, but would arrive on PlayStation years later, on August 15, 2024. This game was also published and developed by Crytek, which are also known for their titles in the 'Crysis' franchise. 'Hunt: Showdown 1896' is an extraction shooter set in the year 1896, where players must target an undead bounty issued by the government while also being cautious of other players who are also chasing after the same goal and will go to any means to achieve that goal. The base price for this game, outside of the PlayStation Plus Rotation, with no discounts applied, sits at $29.99 USD.
The Plot
The story follows a group of hunters from the "American Hunters Association" (A.H.A.) in 1896, who are tasked with investigating the undead in Stillwater Bayou to prevent the spread of an undead infection from other regions and to document each unnatural anomaly they encounter. In each game, players from each team will spawn in with the same goal of finding their bounty to eliminate and extract with the rewards. However, whoever earns the bounty will be targeted by other players seeking their rewards, meaning the only options are to eliminate the remaining players or extract while you can.

'Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2' was released on September 26, 2024, developed by YUKE'S and published by D3PUBLISHER. This title is a third-person action shooter in which aliens have invaded the planet, and it's up to the EDF soldiers to prevent these monsters from taking control of Earth. The base price for this game, outside of the PlayStation Plus Rotation, with no discounts applied, sits at $49.99 USD.
The Plot
This story follows the events of the first game, where the player assumed the role of Commander of the EDF and successfully pushed back against the alien invasion of pixelated creatures, saving Earth.....for now. In the sequel, the aliens have returned once again, with new enemies to confront. With Earth in a state of panic, the EDF steps up against the threat and must protect this planet from these alien combatants. Battle on the front lines alone, or invite other players to join in the fight!

'F1® 25' was released on May 30, 2025, developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports. This title is entirely revolved around Formula 1 Racing, with the ability to create your own team of drivers, as well as take control as the team manager of your dedicated drivers. The base price for this game, outside of the PlayStation Plus Rotation, with no discounts applied, sits at $69.99 USD, making this game the most expensive title to purchase without any form of discount.
The Plot
The story can be followed through the mode called "My Team 2.0", where the player will become the owner of a Formula 1 Team, deciding whether to manage the drivers from a distance or take control of the wheel to win races. Outside of this one mode, there are several other modes accessible to players, including an online mode to compete against other players.
