Here's the latest...

With June coming to a close, brings a new lineup of monthly games for July. These listings come directly from the official PlayStation.Blog, with the official release dates for these monthly games lasting from July 7th to August 7th. The roster of games this time around consists of one game from 2018 and two from 2023. If you wanted to know more about each title and a complete breakdown of what to expect, then please feel free to use the information provided below to help inform your decision on which titles to play.
Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare III - Cross Gen Edition | PS5/PS4

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare III (2023) is the 20th entry in the Call of Duty Franchise, with this particular title being a reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011). Since this edition of the game is considered a "Cross Gen Edition", players can play both the PS4 and PS5 versions for the month. Call of Duty is known for being a first-person shooter game, with most releases having three main modes that make up the game: Campaign, Multiplayer, and an additional third mode that varies depending on the company developing the game.
Campaign
The story of this game is a direct continuation of Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare II, starting with a group of soldiers formed as Alpha Team carrying out "Operation 627", with the goal sneaking their way through the Zordaya Prison Complex to break out a special prisoner, Vladimir Makarov. However, these soldiers were not there to break out an innocent man, but rather a well-known terrorist who once threatened the world and plans to do so after escaping from his cell. Play as members of Task Force 141, as your team attempts to find Makarov and put an end to his crimes against the world.
Multiplayer
The Multiplayer in this game is notably faster compared to its previous entry, Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare II. Most of the maps found in this title are direct remasters from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009), which did confuse a lot of players upon release, as there were no remastered maps from its original release in 2011. Lots of the attachments, perks, weapons, and equipment are directly tied to the Armory Unlock and can mainly be unlocked by completing Daily Quests. If you like fast-paced Multiplayer, with some classic remastered maps, then this is a Multiplayer that you would be sure to enjoy.
MWZ (Modern Warfare Zombies)
Unlike the traditional zombies mode that studios like Treyarch have been known to make from their Black Ops Series, MWZ is a modern twist on the format if it were mixed with an Extraction shooter. This mode plays similar to another mode called "DMZ", which was also a multiplayer extraction shooter, where players could complete contracts with the risk of encountering enemy players. MWZ is different, as it removes PVP entirely from the mode and is primarily focuses on self-progression through completing contracts to earn "Acquisitions" that can be brought into the next game you play. The servers for this mode may not last long, so be sure to check out this mode if you intend on playing this game.
For the King II | PS5/PS4

For The King II was released on November 2, 2023, developed by IronOak Games and published by Curve Games is a sequel to the first game "For The King" released in 2018 , which is a tabletop turn-based RPG with rougelite elements incorporated. The base price for this title outside of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Rotation sits at $24.99 USD, but will be accessible to download for free for PlayStation Plus Members during this limited time.
The Plot
Queen Rosomon was considered a kind ruler and was adored by all of her people within the kingdom; however, something within the Queen would snap. She had cast all of her loyal subjects into the deepest, darkest parts of the Fahrul mines, and had begun building an army full of evil, negative creatures to force the kingdom into kneeling before her. Now it is up to your party to traverse through the land of Fahrul and put a stop to the Queen's mayhem, before it's too late! Additionally, this game does offer Co-Op and Crossplay Compatibility, meaning you could either choose to fight alone or invite a couple of friends to help you battle in Fahrul.
DLC (not included)
This game does introduce three paid DLC packs, which are not directly tied to the PlayStation Plus Subscription and must be purchased separately. These DLC packs listed below are the following:
For The King II: Tinkerers of Fate Character Pack - $7.99 USD
For The King II: Fallen Oath Character Pack - $7.99 USD
For The King II: Into The Wild Character Pack - $7.99 USD
If you are a trophy/achievement hunter and crave that 100% Game Completion, then you will need to purchase these DLCS to satisfy that hunger. If it seems like a high entry value for some characters, there is also the option to wishlist one of those packs and keep an eye on them in case they go on sale. If you're looking for a fun tabletop roguelite, with some charm and magic thrown in the mix, this is a game that is sure to grab your attention!
CrossCode | PS5/PS4

CrossCode was released on September 21, 2018, developed by Radical Fish Games and published by Deck 13, WhisperGames, DANGEN Entertainment, and Mayflower Entertainment. This game is a fast-paced action RPG (Role-playing Game) with a mix of unique puzzles, a fun combat system, and a catchy soundtrack that blends in all the right ways. The base price for this title outside of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Rotation sits at $19.99 USD, but will be accessible to download for free for PlayStation Plus Members during this limited time.
The Plot
The story revolves around a woman named Shizuka Sakai who must fight through dungeons in the world of "CrossWorld", where she will learn more about herself as well as who is behind her lost memories. While this game is single-player only, it will not take away anything from the overall experience. Will you be able to regain these lost memories, or will the pressure from the enemies weigh you down? (To avoid spoiling key parts of the game, it'll be kept brief to ensure a blind playthrough for readers who are intrigued by the title).
DLC (not included)
This game only has one paid DLC pack, which is the following:
CrossCode: A New Home - $9.99 USD
Unlike the DLC seen in For The King II, this DLC is not tied to any seperate trophy list or required to purchase to complete the base trophy list. "A New Home" is another story that happens after the events of the base game. If it seems like a high entry value for some characters, there is also the option to wishlist one of those packs and keep an eye on them in case they go on sale. If you're looking for a 2D action-packed RPG with fast combat, nostalgic graphics, and all within a sci-fi environment, this game is worth your time and can provide players hours of enjoyment.
