Call fo Duty®: Black Ops 7 launches Super Easter Egg Hunt for Season 6
Before the release of "Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 4", Season 6 had been launched for Black Ops 7, which also included a Super Easter Egg relating to the Zombies Mode. Unlike prior major rewards for completing map-specific Easter Eggs, the process of meeting the requirements for this year led the community on a massive multi-day hunt.

During the release of "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7", many players have become uninterested in the franchise due to the numerous releases of Black Ops titles over the past decade, especially considering the heavy use of AI-generated content seen in their 'Calling Cards' for Player Customization. Outside of the negative critiques, there was one aspect of Black Ops 7 that players really enjoyed, which was the 'Zombies' mode. The content over the past six seasons has consisted of new maps, modes, and plenty of easter eggs, with challenging boss fights. The final map, released in Season 5, was "Rex Infernus" and served as the thrilling conclusion to the 'Dark Aether Storyline', started all the way back in 2020 with "Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War". Once the map's dedicated Main Quest was solved, players had only one question left: "Will there be a Super Easter Egg reward?" In Treyarch titles such as "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 3" and "Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War", they would provide the player with a reward for completing every map's easter egg, like another starting weapon or starting with an increased weapon rarity. When the events of "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6" concluded, fans were disappointed to learn there was no planned content or free reward for completing the maps. However, it would be discovered a whole year later that there was no reward. In the build-up for Season 6 of "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7", the Call of Duty®: Blog would release an article discussing the recent patch notes, with a photo showcasing all the planned content expected to come during Season 6. Around this time in the COD life cycle, they mainly refer to the final season as "The Haunting", since Halloween plays a big theme for this season. One key detail that readers pointed out in the photo was that, under the 'Zombies' section was the addition of 'Gameplay Content' referred to as "Super Easter Egg".

Unlike prior years, the "Super Easter Egg" was not a simple automatic reward given to the players, but rather a complex hunt across every map up to this point to create a full picture of the final boss encounter. In the picture provided above, the box shown would be seen across all of the standard zombie maps released up to this point ('Ashes of the Damned', 'Astra Malorum', 'Paradox Junction', 'Totenreich', 'Kuwakujo', and 'Rex Infernus'). On each map, players would have to use their knowledge of each map through side easter eggs to uncover the box location and solve the quest. When done correctly, the box would open, revealing a miniature statue that can be brought out of the game through exfiling. The hunt would take players several days to find each box and test out different theories, as they livestream their progress across their audeience.

After a three-day hunt, players were able to find the final statue, which would then be used in a bookshelf in the new "Rex Infernus" map. Upon interacting with the bookshelf with all six statues, it teleports players to a boss arena, where they will fight wave after wave of bosses from "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6" and "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7". Once players have defeated the onslaught of enemies, they were now thrown into the main quest boss fight of the map, "THE WARDEN". This boss rush would serve as the ultimate challenge for players to overcome, proving their skills as a zombie player and testing their knowledge. With The Warden defeated, players would watch a special cutscene for completing the Super Easter Egg, which was a music video for the song "Remember Us (Theatrical Mix)" by Elena Siegman, showcasing the storyline from "Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War" all the way to end of "Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7".

After watching the music video, players were rewarded with a new operator (The Warden) and a new relic for their 'Cursed' mode called "Mister Peeks Mayhem". In 'Cursed' mode, it uses the traditional point system that was used in the early Black Ops titles. However, one of the additions they added was 'Relics', which would give players some optional difficulty modifiers but would reward them with tiered rewards. The more difficult relics equipped, the higher the reward would be for the player. The "Mister Peeks Mayhem" is unlike any relic the game has ever seen. When equipped, it gives the player ALL Tier Rewards without any of the difficulty modifiers to justify the benefits. Below is a list of all the rewards that players will have when equipping this relic before the match starts:
Tier I Reward: Golden Armor is unlocked.
Tier II Reward: Ultra Weapon Rarity is unlocked
Tier III Reward: Golden Armor is unlocked
The Wunderfizz machine will provide players with a randomly selected Eternal Perk
Price Reduction for Pack-a-Punch Machine and Ammo Box
The Mystery Box has increased rates of spinning higher-rarity weapons and wonder weapons

This Super Easter Egg is one of the most creative hunts the community has seen in years, and it has players recall their experience on the prior maps to complete this finale. Despite the reputation of the title's Campaign being disliked by the player base, the same can not be said for their Zombie mode, as the detail within this mode is remarkably great and worth praising.
